  1. Dick Hunkele says:

First time observer. Worked at the OC Airport all previous years flight line duties. Did not see much except for the planes based there. Did miss the Sky typers however.

Most questions asked or repeated came out in early printed information.. My; flight line seat could not have been better. However the only comment that I could make is the umbrellas. They block the view left and right. It might help if the announcer(S) would suggest as a courtesy if people could close the umbrellas during the show. Just a thought.

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Dick, we really appreciate your feedback! It is a difficult balance to strike with the umbrellas, as some of our guests can’t tolerate 3 hours in the direct sun, but we do of course want all our guests to have good visibility. We’ll be thinking on that aspect for 2020 and how we might be able to accommodate it better. Really appreciate you being our guests and taking the time to send us a note!

  2. Melanie says:

Another great year in the Drop Zone!!! It does seem that each year the area marked off is smaller and smaller with more and more tickets being sold. We try to get there early to position near the access point to the water. Mark the walkways to the water a little better because we had to keep telling the late arrivals they couldn’t sit in that pathway. I like the cones as they use for the quad to get through. We were close to the 14th street entrance this year and there were only 2 porta potties. 4 would have been ideal. It’s not an easy event and you won’t please everyone, but we return faithfully!

    • OC Air Show says:

Thanks so much for your feedback as well as your regular attendance, Melanie! We love hearing suggestions like this from guests like you.

  3. Meghan says:

I have been a drop zone ticket holder for the last 4-5 years. This year I was a little disappointed at how crowded that area was and the inability to get to the water. There was only one small walkway which was partially blocked and we had to walk a ways atriums crowds and the fence to make it to the water…. maybe more walkways next year and less fencing.

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Meghan, we appreciate the feedback. I’ve already forwarded your comment along to our Site Ops team for consideration regarding next year’s show. Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your feedback!

  4. Matthew says:

I just want to post my experience: this was my first year purchasing tickets for the drop zone an next time I will probably save the 21 dollars I spent when I preordered them. It didn’t meet my expectations at all. You would be fine to find a spot on the boardwalk or the beach an watch the show. The only conveniences the drop zone had for me was you were able to hear the narrator an the beer line was fast. Lines to the portable potties were long. We actually went down on the beach to watch where there were less people an not so crowded. I was expecting more room in the drop zone with only so many tickets being sold. Next year I’ll prob keep my money for drinks an watch it from elsewhere. At least now I now.

  5. jesse marshall says:

You might want to rethink or offer more options as to food vendors. While i am willing to pay 8 dollars for a hamburger or chicken sandwhich i expect it to be edible. Chicken sandwhich was like rubber and hamburger was just as bad. And Grotto Pizza could not seem to keep the pizza on hand. Maybe offer another vendor to give better selections.

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Jesse, thanks for the feedback – we will pass this along to the food vendors. We have to use certain ones due to restrictions with the City of Ocean City and the Boardwalk, but we can always make improvements. Thanks for taking the time to let us know your thoughts!

  6. Mario says:

The event staff at your hotline (877-722-2927) are telling people they are prohibited from bringing coolers and can only bring in one sealed bottle of water. I’m seeing multiple areas in this thread where you state that coolers are fine. You may have some angry guests on your hands if they arrive seeing folks with coolers after they were told they’re prohibited.

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Mario, that line is our Box Office Support, so we’ll get them on the horn immediately to correct their information. Coolers with food and non-alcoholic drinks are FINE for the Drop Zone Beach.

      • Larry Atherton says:

Was wondering the same thing sitting next to people that have coolers filled with ice cold water and I have to spend the same amount for for a case and just bought one bottle

  7. Timothy Bowers says:

I am purchasing pre-event tickets for the event. However, I was wondering if there is any military discount?

  8. CJ says:

How big is the drop zone? We are not planning on buying tickets since it is not set if we will make it or not depending on softball championships. But will we still be able to get to the beach.

    • OC Air Show says:

We don’t oversell it to ensure comfortable experiences for all guests – you can see the event site map here to view the size of the Drop Zone. We hope you’ll make it out, but also, GOOD LUCK in the softball championships!

  9. Michelle says:

I was wondering if the board walk is close to the drop zone? That way we can walk around and check out some of the shops while we are waiting. Since we plan on getting there at 9ish.

    • OC Air Show says:

Yes, the Drop Zone beach is right off the boardwalk, and you’ll get a wristband that allows you entrance back and forth from the beach, so you can come and go as you please!

  10. Diane Kyle says:

Where exactly is the check-in gate / entrance to get our wrist bands and set up our umbrellas, if we have Drop Zone tickets ?? Like where exactly do we go ? All i see is “14th and 15th streets ” .. . . . .

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Diane, I’m so sorry for the delay in response – for some reason your comment got automatically approved so it wasn’t seen by our page admin! See the event map here: https://ocairshow.com/event-site-information/ You’ll see lots of signage for three areas in which you can enter the Drop Zone Beach when you get down to the boardwalk between 14th and 15th Streets. There, a volunteer will scan each of your tickets and give you a wristband that will allow you to come and go. My apologies again that this didn’t get flagged properly for a response!

    • OC Air Show says:

Stop by our Information Booth, located right at 15th Street, and inquire with our volunteer team there. I’m sure they’d be happy to locate a program for you!

    • OC Air Show says:

Some of the businesses around the boardwalk area will be doing paid parking lots during the show, but it will be first-come, first-serve. There is also the option to park over at the Ocean City Park & Ride, which has a shuttle bus that takes guests down to the boardwalk area.

    • OC Air Show says:

There isn’t a way to pre-order them, but our vendors bring out plenty of chairs and umbrellas for this event. So long as you arrive in the morning (Gates open at 9 am, show starts at noon) before 11 am, you should be fine to be able to get a rented umbrella and/or chair.

  11. evelyn says:

My mother in law is in a wheelchair. I have tickets to the drop zone. Is there anything wheelchair accessibility in the drop zone

    • OC Air Show says:

So the Drop Zone Beach is entirely out on the beach, which is all sand. We recommend that handicap guest give themselves a little extra time to navigate, and make sure to set up in the shade. You are allowed to bring your own beach umbrellas or rent one of them from our umbrella vendors out on the beach. The show starts at noon, but the beach gets pretty crowded by 11, so we recommend arriving prior to that to locate a good spot.

  12. Lynn says:

what streets on the beach is the air show visible from?
not liking crowds & still want to enjoy – please advise.

    • OC Air Show says:

Show Center is from 14th to 17th street, so most of the show will be visible anywhere around that area, north or south. We can’t guarantee the routes that each plane will fly will go over the entire beach, but there are good views anywhere in Ocean City.

  13. Kathy says:

If I take the Ocean City buses down to the Drop Zone, can i take sand chairs & coolers on the public buses?

    • OC Air Show says:

You would need to call the Public Transportation department to verify, but theoretically I suspect it would be allowed.

    • OC Air Show says:

Hi Chris, not sure to what bus you are referring, but you are absolutely allowed to bring your own beach chairs out to the Drop Zone beach.

    • OC Air Show says:

Yes, there will be chairs and umbrellas available for rent – not sure what the cost is, but generally speaking it’s under $20.

  14. Jed Kling says:

    Hello,

I purchased Drop Zone tickets for my wife and I and my 6 year old son. I have a 4 year old as well but your site said there is no admission for children 5 and under. Is there anything I need to provide for proof of age at the gate or obtain prior to the event?

    Thank you,

  15. Diane Kyle says:

Hi ! It keeps saying “14th and 15th Street” for the entrance gate . . . .(or is it 15th and 16h ?) but where EXACTLY do we go, to find the entrance to drop zone beach and to get our wrist – bands ???

  16. Diane Kyle says:

Hi ! we bought 4 adult tickets, and my kids are 3 and 5 . . . . since they’re free, do you have a “free” ticket that I need to bring with them on that Sunday ? for their admittance ?

  17. Phyllis Crane says:

If I have tickets for the drop zone, do I still need to be there at 9 AM to get a good spot on the beach? Just how crowded would it be if I showed up at 11 AM?

    • OC Air Show says:

It does get pretty crowded by 11, so we recommend getting there between 9 and 10:30 for optimal umbrella placement!

    • OC Air Show says:

It depends on what you like! The Flight Line Club is GREAT if you want the sun, the sand, the water, and no hassles because we provide the food, the shade, the beverages, etc. However, if you are not a big beach person, the Skybox or Penthouse can also be a really great experience because you have such a great view of the show. Our Drop Zone is general admission, so it’s no frills, but a lot of fun!

  18. Dan says:

Website is saying coolers, food and water can be brought in however printed on the back of the tickets is the following: because of security reasons no coolers ate allowed and one sealed bottle of water can be brought in per person. Which one is correct. Thank you.

  19. Vincent Latchford says:

Can you access the beach and swimming from the drop zone? IS there a swimming beach near the drop zone? Can you exit and reenter the drop zone?

    • OC Air Show says:

Yes, there is a gate at the oceanfront of the Drop Zone that allows access in and out of the waterfront only for the ticket holders!

  20. amber says:

I see there is a fence around the area, but my kids like to run to and from the water, is the whole area fenced in? could we just sit close to the area (like on the free part of the beach), and just use our wristbands to use the facilities?

    • OC Air Show says:

There is waterfront access at the bottom of the Drop Zone area, so your kids can access the water.

    • OC Air Show says:

We do not provide parking or transportation to the boardwalk, but there are many places around Ocean City that will charge for parking for the day during the show.

  21. Cori says:

How crowded is the Drop Zone? Are you able to walk around pretty easy? Also, what happens if it rains? Are we out our ticket cost?

    • OC Air Show says:

Hey Cori, the Drop Zone is pretty busy, but we do limit ticket sales so that it doesn’t get overcrowded. Tickets are non-refundable, but if the show is completely cancelled because of rain, we honor the tickets the next day or next year. Typically everything can fly rain or shine though!!

    • OC Air Show says:

The day before the event – we do a tiered discount so that the earlier buy, the more you save!

  22. Kay says:

Can we bring our own umbrella, cooler, chairs etc. into the drop zone? What time does the drop zone open? Can you come and go?

    • OC Air Show says:

Yes, cooler, chair, umbrella is fine! No alcoholic beverages and no awnings though. Drop Zone opens at 9 am, and you will receive a wristband so you can come and go as you please.

    • OC Air Show says:

The Drop Zone and Flight Line Club areas are all on the sand, so we recommend handicap guests give themselves a bit of extra time to get to their destination.
